Drill: 5 players on offense, 5 players on defense. Coach or manager at top with the basketball.
The offense will run any offense without the ball while the coach can: 1-shoot to test rebounding 2-give to offense and let them run with ball 3-throw it out for a loose ball 4-hit a player in the back if they aren’t looking = turnover
5-Run FULL COURT CHANGE
While the offense is working, a coach will yell ‘change’. The player with the ball will set it on the floor. The offense will now become the defense, defense becoming the offense. The offensive player picking up the basketball will pass ahead to a coach on the sideline at midcourt. Both teams are transitioning down the court to the other end. As they are running down court, the coach can throw the basketball to anyone on either team. If the new offense gets it, attempt to score. If the new defense gets its, immediately transition back the other way. Begin drill again and adjust offense and defense as you choose and as necessary.
This drill simulates turnover situations. It is also a great way to add life to practice.
