The Box Pick and Roll Play is a simple to set up and execute out of bounds play. Starting from a box formation, a pick and roll is performed in order to create an open shot opportunity.
The players set up in a box formation around the lane with O3 taking the ball out of bounds. When the official hands the basketball to O3, O5 sets a diagonal screen for O2 who cuts off the screen to the ballside low block or short corner area. O5 then rolls down to the weakside low block area.
At the same time of O5’s pick, O1 cuts out to the ballside corner and O4 releases to the top as the safety valve.
O3 has the first option of passing to O2 (a), followed by O5 (b), O1 (c), and O4 (d).
