The purpose of this quick hitting basketball play is to get the basketball in the hands of a player who can dribble-drive to attack the basket. The main looks are for his own shot, but options abound for creating a shot for a teammate.
Players set up in 4-Out, 1-In set. O1 starts on the right side and initiates the play by passing over to O2.
O2 receives the pass and reverses it to O3 on the left wing.
As O3 is catching the pass, O4 cuts through to the ballside corner.
At the same time, O2 screens down for O5.
After cutting up from the downscreen, O5 steps over and sets a ball screen for O3.
O3 should dribble hard off of O5’s screen and look to attack the rim.
If O3 draws help defenders, he may have an open pass to O1 who is sliding down the wing. If O5’s defender helps, O5 can execute a pick and roll. O2 might also be open as O3 penetrates the lane. Options a-plenty for O3 to create a scoring chance!
