Purpose: To develop the hustle and skill required in crashing the boards to secure a rebound. Competitiveness is also a required skill to find success in this basketball rebounding drill.
Drill: Players form two lines facing the basket, one on each side of the elbow. A coach or manager will stand near the free throw line and shoot the ball so it rebounds off the rim. (To save time and to get more game-like rebounds, consider investing in a basketball rebounding aid available at the Hoops U. Basketball Store).
When the ball is shot, the first player in each line breaks and ‘crashes the board’. Obviously the goal is to be the player who secures the rebound!
These two players can then move to the end of the line so the next two can go. If you wish, you can also have the winner stay … a little added motivation to see who wants the ball more!
