Silver

By Zach Keene

This quick hitter utilizes some screening and cutting action to keep the defense active. We like to run this play out of a dead ball situation. We will look to run this on a dead ball situation. We are looking for the (5) to pop out and receive a pass from (1). (1) will then look to cut through the lane and run through to the left wing. (3) will look to exchange with (1) around the block area. (4) will then look to pop out to outside of the 3-point line and receive a pass from (5). After (5) … [Read more...]

Overload the 2-3 Zone Play

By Zach Keene

Overload is a set we will look to run against a 2-3 zone. We will start out in a 1-3-1 look like you see here. Once the pass is passed to a wing, we will start the offense. Here we are passing the ball to the 3. Once this happens 4 at the high post will cut to the short corner, followed by the 5 who breaks all the way out to the corner outside the 3-point line. Finally the 2 will break in directly to the high post. We will first look to the corner then to the short corner. The last look will … [Read more...]

30 Offensive Rules for Championship Basketball

By Zach Keene

We love to play up-tempo basketball. Our style of play is to run and attack! We push the ball up the court at every opportunity. As we push the ball up the court, we look to score - primary break to secondary break, secondary break to one of our set offenses. Our primary goal on offense is to play "Team Basketball." To us, team basketball is about not forcing shots, making the extra pass, and attacking the basket to pass, not shoot. When five athletes are playing as one on the court, basketball … [Read more...]

Run and Jump Press

By Zach Keene

The Run-and-Jump Press is designed to force your opponent into mistakes, turnovers, bad shots, and to make them struggle to get into their offense. Philosophy of the Run-and-Jump The basic philosophy in the run-and-jump press is that you do not need to steal the basketball. If you are thinking "steal" you will invariably reach, get out of position and commit a foul. Reaching and gambling defensively make the run-and-jump defense ineffective. You want your opponents to make mistakes, turn … [Read more...]
