:: A Hoops U. Basketball Review ::
Author: Pete Strobl
Available from: CoachStrobl.com
Backspin, by Pete Strobl, is a fascinating book that is part basketball, part memoir, and part motivational. Altogether, it was hard to put down until I was finished reading!
As the sub-head on the cover states, Backspin is “one player’s journey from the U.S. to Europe and back again”. You’ll journey with Pete as he takes you from high school to NCAA Division I Niagara University. You will also go along for the ride through his travels playing basketball all over Europe.
As you can imagine, there are ups and downs when playing basketball at any level … especially overseas. Pete shares all of his ups and downs, the team and individual highs, the challenges and difficulties. It is well-written and you’ll feel like you’re travelling and playing alongside him.
If you are a fan of basketball, you’ll enjoy this book. Even if you’re not a basketball fan, you’ll enjoy reading this book.
Ultimately, this is a great read for anyone who has ever played the game at any level. You will find yourself relating to many of the stories throughout.
And … if you are a player who has the opportunity to play college ball or even beyond, this is definitely a must-read!
Backspin is a journey you’ll enjoy taking.
