You are here: / / / / Corner Box Play
This out of bounds play sets up with the box formation in the corner rather than in the lane. It enables a post player to ‘post up’ without help defense being a factor.
When the official hands the basketball to #3, #5 backs defender across the lane looking for a pass.
#4 v-cuts from the elbow and replaces #5 on the low block.
#1 sets a backscreen for #2, then flares deep as a safety valve.
#3 looks first for #5; then #4 or #2. #1 only if no one has become available.
