For example, when a player is performing a ball-handling drill, a coach can enhance a player’s basketball IQ by helping the player to stay low at all times when dribbling. Players tend to one to stand straight after certain movements or when changing direction versus staying low at all times, so that you can be quicker than the defender.
In addition, since basketball is a team sport, players must learn the skill of playing with other teammates and learning to utilize their teammates’ skills to enhance their own strengths, and cover for their weaknesses. A really good basketball player uses his mind to analyze his own skills, the skills of his team, and the skill of his opponents in order to master the sport and become a better player. In fact, physical skill alone in a sport as complex as basketball is never enough to thrive in the sport.
