This quick hitter gives the potential shooter the option of which direction to cut off of a screen or staggered screen in order to get open for the jump shot. Also a nice basketball play when you want to get your point guard a shot.
Players set up as shown. As O1 brings the ball toward the top, he passes to O2 on the wing. O4 comes up from the weakside low block and sets a backscreen for O1. O2 dribbles the ball back to the top of the key area.
Note: This play can be run to either side. The wings should both cut to get open and the weakside low post player will come up to set the backscreen.
As O2 reaches the top, O1 has the option to use the screens and cut out to either side. Whichever way he goes, O2 looks to pass to O1 for the jump shot.
You can also see that O4 has moved from his original backscreen to set a second screen on one side or the other for O1.
