Purpose: To develop teamwork, ball control, passing, and conditioning while attempting to score.
Drill: The players should get into three lines at one end of the court (additional players should be off the playing court, behind the baseline.
The drill starts with the ball in the middle line. The rule to follow and remember in the 3-man weave is to pass the ball and go-behind the receiver (pass and go-behind). O1 passes to O2 and goes behind. O2 receives the pass, passes to O3, and goes behind O3. O3 receives the pass and then passes to O1. This process is repeated to the other end of the court. When arriving at the far end, the player attempts a layup.
The layup shooter turns and sprints back to the starting end as soon as the ball is shot and prepares to play defense versus the other two players.
Note: On a made layup, the offense should take the ball out of bounds. If the shot is missed, the offense should immediately rebound the ball and go for the 2 on 1.
Variation: Do not allow dribbling during the 3 man weave and/or during the 2 on 1.
