Building a Basketball Program: The First 30 Days

By Hoops U.

Coach Bob Starkey and Coach Jim Boone are doing something unique over the next 30 days you may be interested in.

Coach Jim Boone was recently hired as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at West Virginia Wesleyan University. Starting on Monday, August 15th, 2011, he will be sharing what he is doing each day as he begins building for a championship. He will be sharing this information on Coach Starkey’s blog, Hoop Thoughts.

More from Hoop Thoughts:

So here’s the deal! Jim reports to West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday, August 15 where he will begin putting together his new program. Of course he has already begun from his home in Tusculum and we will discuss that later as well. But for 30 days — August 15 through September 15, he will blog through Hoop Thoughts as to the process he will used to develop the Bobcats.

We will try to have two blogs a day. The first one with a brief outline of what Jim has planned for the day and one later that will discuss how the day went. Jim will also be twittering during the time. For those that are one twitter, you can follow him at:

www.twitter.com/Coach_Jim_Boone

He will use the hashtag #30DC to let you know the tweet is directly about something he is doing in regard to building his program. For those not on twitter, you need not fear. He will have a blog post with some of his key tweets of the day.

Read this full post on Hoop Thoughts

I can honestly say that you will want to follow along on the Hoop Thoughts blog. The information you will be able to glean on coaching basketball and building / developing a program is going to be priceless.

Coach Boone’s record as a coach speaks for itself and his basketball knowledge is second to none. If you’re interested, you can also check out his new DVD “Pressure Pack Line Defense” available at the Hoops U. Basketball Store.

So, get over to Hoop Thoughts now and make sure you’re following along. And beyond this 30-day series, Coach Starkey’s blog is loaded with fantastic coaching insights (Hoops Thoughts, you could say!) If you’re on Twitter, you should also be following Coach Starkey and Coach Boone.
