The following is a great takeaway of leadership ideals from the article. There are, however, many more in the complete article so be sure to read it!!
What’s your advice to somebody who is a new leader or aspires to take on the responsibility of leading people?
The key is in the term “people.” Everybody is different, so you have to get along with multiple personalities. You have to be flexible in the way you do things. And you have to have firm vision and be determined to lead others in a particular direction.
Being a good leader is understanding where you are, understanding what you need to accomplish, and understanding how to get there. You learn how to instill that vision in everyone. It doesn’t matter whether you’re president of the United States or your local 4H club.
Commit to your business. You’re always learning, always growing, always trying new things.
Dream big and try bigger and better things each and every day. Small endeavors won’t ignite the spirit.
The thing that you think you can’t accomplish? You won’t – because you think you can’t.
Practice the three H’s in everything you do: Honesty, humility, and helpfulness.
Positive, effective leaders can see changes on the horizon and prepare for those changes. Change is the key to growth.
Finally, commit to your community. Make a difference.
