4-Out Double Flare for 3

By Hoops U.

From a 4-out, 1-in set, the goal of this play is to get a quick three-point shot or to make sure the ball gets in the hands of your best shooter. The play begins with O1 passing to O3 on the wing and then cutting through to the opposite corner. O2 cuts and fills the spot vacated by O1. (Note, O2 may need to v-cut to get open). O3 passes to O2. O4 rotates to fill O2's vacated spot. O2 then passes to O4 as O3 and O5 set a double screen for on the wing for O2. O2 cuts off the … [Read more...]

4-Out, 1-In Iso Play

By Brian Rea

This is a play to isolate a player from a 4 Out-1 In set. It gets you some misdirection away from the iso-side, a ball screen, and a staggered double. This can be run out of transition or it can be run as a set play at anytime. Our best slasher/scorer runs the trailer spot, so we are able to run it straight from transition without moving people to different spots. 1 passes to 5 and face cuts to the wing. 3 sets a baseline screen for 2 to sprint and clear the right side of the floor. 4 will … [Read more...]

4-Out Handoff Dive Play

By Hoops U.

This set play from a 4-out, 1-in set utilizes a handoff and basket cut to get a potential layup opportunity. It's a simple play to run that forces the defense to help from positions they may not be accustomed to helping. The play starts with 4 players on the perimeter and 1 player at or near the low block on the ball side. O1 passes to O3 and follows his pass to receive a handoff from O3. O1 then dribbles as O3 rolls and dives to the basket. O1 passes to O3 diving to the basket. To help … [Read more...]

Double Rub Play

By Hoops U.

The Double Rub Play is a quick hitter that utilizes a couple of 'rubs' to create an open scoring opportunity. The term rub is used to describe when you 'rub' your defender off of a screen. It is more of you using your screener rather than your screener seeking out your defender to set the screen. The Double Rub Play starts in a 4-out, 1-in set as shown. The '1-in' player, 5, starts at the free throw line while the other four players are all on the perimeter. This set play is initiated when 1 … [Read more...]

Reversal Backcut High Flash

By Hoops U.

This quick hitter begins in a 4 around 1 set and utilizes quick passes, a backpick, and a high flash. The play begins with O1 passing to O3 on the wing. O1 will move high and behind O3 to show for a return pass. O3 fakes the pass back to O1 and passes to O2. O2 quickly reverses to O4 on the right wing. As O4 receives the pass, O3 cuts into the lane using the screen set by O5. After setting the screen, O5 flashes into the lane/high post area. O4 has the option of passing to O3 for a layup or O5 … [Read more...]
